Quittr by IngeniousDev

Privacy policy

Effective 24 October 2026

Quittr is provided by IngeniousDev, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands (KVK 70558418), based in Nijmegen. For privacy questions or requests about information you have sent to support, contact hello@ingeniousdev.nl.

Your records stay on your device

Quittr helps you quit or reduce a behavior without needing an account. It stores your goals, plans, reported uses, cravings, notes, costs, attempts, milestones, and preferences locally. These records may reveal sensitive details about your health or behavior.

Quittr uses them on your device to show your history, calculate progress, and provide the features you choose. It does not upload them to a developer-operated server. The Android app has no internet permission and includes no advertising, behavioral analytics, or automatic crash reporting. Your records are not sold or used for advertising.

Storage and security

Quittr encrypts its local database and protects its key using Android’s device security facilities. This cannot guarantee protection on a compromised device or stop someone with access to your unlocked device from seeing the app.

Automatic Android backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for Quittr’s app data. Losing your device, clearing app storage, or uninstalling Quittr can remove your history. There is no developer-held copy to recover for you.

Exports, imports, and sharing

You can export your data and choose where to save or share it. Password-protected export is the default, and readable JSON export is also available. Quittr does not store export passwords, so keep your password and exported files safe.

When you use Android’s share controls, the app or service you choose receives the file and handles it under its own policies. Deleting local data in Quittr cannot remove copies you saved or sent elsewhere.

Imports are read and validated locally. Confirming an import replaces the current local data rather than merging histories or contacting a cloud service.

Notifications and device access

Notifications are optional and scheduled on your device. Quittr asks for notification permission after you choose to enable them. Android scheduling access and device restart handling support the reminders you choose. Your lock-screen privacy choice controls whether reminders name a goal.

Quittr uses Android’s file selection and sharing interfaces for files you choose. It does not need your contacts or location. External support resources open in another app, such as your browser, and may process information under their own policies.

Diagnostics and support messages

Quittr keeps local operational information to recover interrupted work and explain failures. You can choose to share a separate app health report containing bounded status counts and technical reason codes, without recovery notes, goal details, or action payloads. It is never sent automatically.

If you email hello@ingeniousdev.nl, IngeniousDev and its email providers receive your address and the content you send to respond and investigate the issue. Please avoid sending recovery history or other sensitive information. Support messages are deleted within 90 days after resolution unless retention is required by law. Identifying details are removed from any technical issue record kept longer.

Feedback submitted through Google Play is handled by Google and made available to IngeniousDev through its tools. These voluntary messages leave your device and are separate from Quittr’s local records.

Retention and deletion

Local recovery records remain until you delete the app data, replace it through a confirmed import, or uninstall Quittr. Settings lets you delete Quittr’s local data and cancels its scheduled notifications as part of that operation. Some local operational records have shorter automatic retention periods.

To request deletion of support correspondence, email hello@ingeniousdev.nl. IngeniousDev cannot access or delete recovery records held only on your device, or copies held by a recipient you chose when sharing an export.

Changes to this policy

This policy describes the local-only Android release. If a future version adds optional online services, the policy and relevant choices will be updated before those services are used. Your local records will not silently become an online account or be uploaded as part of this release.
